Last year we wrote a blog about our BVIYC dogs Blackie and his new “girlfriend” Sophie. In November, 2 more dogs entered the pack and found shelter, food and cuddles on our docks. We named them Ben and Rascal. Last but not least, Big Ed arrived with short little stumpy legs, a big head (which gave his name) and a massive heart. Within days he made himself at home and everybody adored him so much, that Big Ed got adopted by one of our charter guests. He is now safely in Florida and seems to be enjoying his new-found life.
After a long search for new homes for the other 4 dogs, we shipped all dogs to Florida on the 27th of February, where they have a much bigger chance to find a loving owner.
We wanted to make sure they didn’t wonder off overnight, so we kept them at the humane society for a night and it was no small task trying to get them in their traveling crates the next morning at 4 AM.
PAWS BVI organized a pick up at 5am in the morning to go on a boat to St. Thomas and then a private jet to Florida for 133 cats and dogs in total.
A HUGE thank you to PAWS and to Kenny Chesney for sponsoring and organizing the transport.

How come you, guys, decided to give up Blackie? I understand that he was with you for a long time since he was a pup. Are the conditions in Road Town and on your dock became unsuitable for him? It will be very stressful for him and he will miss all you.

So happy to hear that Sophie’s cut healed. She’s looking great. Thanks for the update!
