Effective August 1 2017, The Government of the British Virgin islands will increase the cruising permit fees drastically. BVI based charters will see an increase in cruising permit fees to $6 per person per day all year around. This is a 300% increase from the former cruising permit fees of $2 per person/day in high season and even a larger increase for the low season fees where the cruising permit only was $0.75 per person per day.
The new law will take effect on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 and will be in effect for previous booked charters as well. The cruising permit is required for all charterers cruising in the British Virgin Islands and is also called Cruising Tax. Foreign based charter companies will be required to charge their customers $16 per person per day all year round. More information >>
