Having chartered many times in the BVI using just about every other charter company over the years, this was my first experience with BVI Yacht Charters. From my initial inquiry, I was impressed with the quick and comprehensive responses from the BVIYC office staff - the first time I've ever received a reply to every inquiry in less than 2 hours. Impressive! Since the airline schedule caused our party to arrive after 8:00pm, we elected to overnight on our yacht JDog which we found waiting for us, all lit up, and its central air conditioning purring away. In the morning, the office staff had all the paperwork ready for us, hosted a post-Irma chart update, and sent us back to the dock for a comprehensive boat briefing. Conveniently, the RiteWay supermarket was just a short walk away from the BVIYC base so we used the rest of the morning to shop for groceries and stow the goodies aboard. JDog is a big boat - very beamy - so you might wonder how well it would sail. It seems like everywhere we want to go in the BVI requires hour after hour of sailing to weather. We were very pleased with its performance., often exceeding 8.0kts upwind. The boat interior was well laid out and provided a comfortable place for our crew of 4 large men. Likewise, the beaminess of the boat provided space for a generously sized cockpit and large dining table. BVIYC's offering of new, high-performance monohulls and a competent dock crew and office staff makes the choice for our next BVI sailing adventure an easy one.
